ARCHITECTURE TALKS LUCERNE 2005
Date: 24 & 25 June 2005
Theme: “Hotel Future”
Location: Culture & Convention Centre Lucerne, Switzerland
The theme of the Architecture Talks Lucerne 2005 was "Hotel Future".
Taking as a starting point the 1990s trend of "design hotels", the
Architecture Talks explored issues relating to the future development
of the hotel as an institution. Today, the hotel has become a design
laboratory which picks up on our yearnings and hopes, conveys lifestyle
and provides a crosspoint in a globalised world. The trend of
increasing investments in the hotel industry underlines this fact.
Which precise demands do travellers make on their “temporary living
space“, which economic conditions and which trends define the industry
and finally, how exactly do architects act and react in the face of a
widening gap between luxury hotels and mass accommodation facilities?
The two-day symposium examined the facts and showcases innovative
projects illuminating new perspectives.
