KKL Lucerne (Culture & Convention Centre Lucerne) The impressive Culture & Convention Centre (KKL) is located behind Lucerne’s main train station, directly on the Vierwaldstättersee, its bold roof structure -the size of two football fields- stretching far into the lake. Designed by the French architect Jean Nouvel, it was built between 1995 and 2000 and is today considered a spectacular venue for renowned festivals, first-rate concerts and international conventions. Next to a number of convention rooms, a bistro and a restaurant, the Culture & Convention Centre houses the art museum, the art library and a concert hall whose acoustics, designed by acoustics expert Russell Johnson, are among the most acclaimed in Europe.
